Labor of love

"The full fruit of a labor of love lives in the harvest, and that always comes in its right season.” Basic Text pg. XXI

When I think of a “labor of love,” sponsorship comes to mind. Each one of my sponsees I met as newcomers, and walking alongside them as they grow has been an incredible journey. Sponsorship is about pouring your heart into another person’s recovery—celebrating each clean birthday, supporting them through hard days without picking up, answering late-night calls, and guiding them through the steps. The harvest shows up beautifully when they begin to sponsor and serve others themselves. Some of the most rewarding moments for me have been watching family being reunited—like when one of my sponsees’ family came to watch her take a 3-year token, or when another sponsee’s family traveled from Arizona to celebrate her 2 years at her party. Seeing them step into service and be supported by their loved ones reminds me that the seeds we plant truly grow. And each one of my girls came into my life at just the right season, the perfect time, showing me that growth and gifts always arrive in their own time. Watching them thrive is one of the greatest gifts of my own recovery.
