Spring is Upon Us

Welcome to the Spring edition of NA North Coastal Area’s The Serenity Times. Our subcommittee is excited to share a new feature of the newsletter, Sounds of Serenity, which includes links to audio clips (2-5 minutes long) from area members answering a question about recovery. Be sure to listen to these powerful and uplifting “mini-shares”—they are well worth it!
Spring reminds us of the power of new beginnings, renewal, and growth, which are themes that resonate deeply within our journey of recovery journey. Nature comes to life after a long winter, like recovery, it offers the chance to start fresh, shedding the weight of the struggles of addiction to make room for hope and transformation.
You might remember the lone flower I mentioned in the Winter edition — the one that held on through the cold, standing bright against a bed of dead leaves. Now, with Spring, that once-barren patch is alive with new sprouts breaking through the soil, surrounding the lone flower with fresh life.
I like to think that flower stood not just for itself, but as a promise of hope — like the first hand reaching out to a newcomer in recovery. It held space for growth, reminding us that resilience isn’t just about survival; it’s a beacon of hope for what’s to come. As the wild patch blooms again, I can’t help but feel grateful for those who stood strong before us—holding space, extending a hand, and reminding us that no one has to find their way alone. And now, it’s our turn to do the same — to stand with love and welcome others into the light of new beginnings. (I promise this will be the last edition with my lone flower’s stories—it was just too perfect to resist.)
Thank you for allowing me to be of service,
Tina M.
